The Whistleblower Legal Center is an internet resource provided by the Law
Office of Tracy L. Netzel a law firm specializing in the representation of
whistleblowers under the False Claims Act, 31 U.S.C. §3729 et seq.
In recent years, the FCA has fast become the government’s most
potent weapon in the fight against fraud. This is so because the FCA
contains qui tam provisions that incentivize private persons or “whistleblowers” to
promptly report fraud and abuse by rewarding them up to 30% of the proceeds
of the action. Without this public-private partnership, the extraordinary
success of the FCA would not have been possible.
Here are just a few of the highlights:
- Since 1986, the government has recovered $12 billion under the
FCA;
- Since 2001, just seven cases against pharmaceutical
manufacturers have generated $1.6 billion;
- In
2003 alone, the government recovered $2.1 billion
under the FCA, more than two-thirds of which were
the result of cases initiated by whistleblowers;
- In 2003, whistleblowers received $319 million for
their efforts in exposing fraud and abuse;
- 13
states and the District of Columbia have now enacted
false claims legislation modeled at least in part
after the FCA; and
- Every $1 invested by the government
in the fight against health care fraud returns
$13 to the American people.
The Law
Office of Tracy L. Netzel represents whistleblowers in
qui tam actions all across the country and in cases spanning the spectrum
of fraud and abuse.
